Stijn BARTHOLOMEEUSEN

Stijn Bartholomeeusen, MD is an orthopaedic surgeon at  the AZ Herentals hospital in Belgium. He received additional training in training in France, Germany and the United states after finalization of his orthopaedic education in Belgium. He developed a special interest and competence for the treatment of degenerative knee disorders and is using both joint preserving (osteotomies) and joint replacement techniques (total and partial knee arthroplasty). He published several scientific papers concerning these topics and is an early adopter for the use of robotic assistance in total knee replacement.

Steven CLAES

Steven Claes, MD, PhD (38) is an orthopaedic surgeon working in AZ Herentals Hospital in Belgium, with a specific expertise in knee instabilities, sports injuries and knee osteotomy. To date, he has performed extensive research on cruciate ligament injuries and knee osteotomy. In 2013, he obtained a Doctoral Degree in Biomedical Sciences at KULeuven University for innovative research on the knee’s Anterolateral Ligament (ALL). His research was awarded with the biennial John Joyce award at the ISAKOS congress in Toronto, Canada in 2013.

Andreas Delaere is bachelor Lichamelijke Opvoeding en master in de kinesitherapie (VUB) en specialiseerde zich daarna verder in de Manuele Therapie aan de Universiteit Gent. Momenteel werkt hij als kinesitherapeut in zijn eigen praktijk te Merchtem. Hier ziet hij een breed publiek waarbij hij een activerende aanpak hanteert aangevuld met manuele therapie.

Daarnaast is hij sinds 2015 verbonden aan de afdeling Gerontologie van de Vrije Universiteit Brussel – UZ Brussel onder leiding van Prof. Dr. Bautmans waar hij een project rond krachttraining bij 65-plussers opvolgt (Senioren PRoject INtensief Trainen – SPRINT). Zijn masterproef rond lichaamssamenstelling bij 80+ werd gepubliceerd in 2019 en sindsdien is hij mede-auteur van 6 andere publicaties. Hij is ook medeauteur van de Richtlijn Sarcopenie die werd opgesteld in opdracht van de Belgische Vereniging voor Geriatrie en Gerontologie. Deze richtlijn werd ook gevalideerd door CEBAM waardoor deze ook als richtlijn geldt voor huisartsen.

Sofie GOEMINNE

Sofie Goeminne, MD is an orthopaedic surgeon at  the AZ Herentals hospital in Belgium, with a special interest in hand and wrist pathology. She obtained the diploma of the European Board of Hand Surgery in 2020. She is working on a PhD on carpal ligament lesions and her research mainly focuses on the scapholunate ligament and the kinematics of the wrist.

He is member and treasurer of the Belgian foot and ankle  society.
He published several scientific papers concerning Foot and Ankle surgery.
Since 2020 he is head of the department orthopedics at AZ Herentals.

Dr. Lieven Vermuyten is orthopedisch chirurg in het AZ Herentals Ziekenhuis in België.
Hij heeft een specifieke interesse in heupsportpathologie en heupreconstructie- en preservatiechirurgie.
Tijdens zijn residentie verbleef hij een jaar in het buitenland aan de Universiteit van Cambridge, UK.
Na zijn residentie aan de KU Leuven keerde hij terug naar het ZOL Genk voor een fellowship.
Daarnaast heeft hij een aantal internationale fellowships gevolgd voor verdere expertise in heupartroscopie (München), bekkentraumachirurgie (Lausanne) en heuppreservatiechirurgie (Bern).
